Apple has unveiled M5, its latest silicon chip featuring Neural Accelerators integrated into each GPU core for dramatically faster AI performance. Built on 3-nanometer technology, M5 delivers over 4x the peak GPU compute performance compared to M4, along with up to 45 percent higher graphics performance and 153GB/s unified memory bandwidth for the new MacBook Pro, iPad Pro, and Apple Vision Pro.

Chinese researchers from Peking University have created an analogue computing chip that could theoretically process calculations 1,000 times faster than Nvidia's flagship H100 GPU while using a fraction of the power. The breakthrough device, developed by Professor Sun Zhong's team, solves the century-old precision problem that has plagued analogue computing, achieving accuracy comparable to digital systems for AI and advanced scientific tasks.
