Thales has reinforced its position as a key defence partner by securing two new PERSEUS distinctions for cutting-edge electronic warfare solutions: CURCO, a radar detector designed for drones, and Golden AI, an artificial intelligence-powered analysis tool.

CURCO offers a lightweight, compact, and highly accurate radar detection capability, adaptable to drones as well as air, sea, and land vehicles. Meeting stringent SWAP (size, weight, and power) requirements, CURCO scans a wide frequency band to provide fast and reliable detection of enemy radar emissions.

The system transmits advanced tactical information in real time, enhancing situational awareness and operational anticipation. Its compatibility with various mission software has been validated in real-world exercises, including joint trials with the French Navy in 2024 and 2025. Future enhancements may include an optional on-board jammer to disrupt detected radar threats, further expanding its capabilities.

Meanwhile, Golden AI represents a significant step forward in cognitive electronic warfare. This AI-driven tool accelerates the analysis of R-ESM (radar electronic support measures) data up to four times faster than traditional methods.

It enables AI models to be trained using historical radar interception databases while also analyzing mission-recorded data to identify radar systems and enrich the database. By standardizing and speeding up analysis, Golden AI reduces operator workload, improves the accuracy of interception reports, and strengthens the perception of the tactical environment.

Tests conducted both on the ground and onboard during the Clemenceau 25 exercise demonstrated Golden AI’s effectiveness in supporting operational debriefings and ensuring data sovereignty with a reliable, scalable AI framework.

These innovations were recognized by the French Navy, the Délégation Générale de l’Armement (DGA), and the Defence Innovation Agency, following Thales’ previous PERSEUS award in 2023 for its Sentinel electronic warfare solution. Both CURCO and Golden AI were officially showcased at the 2025 Forum Innovation Défense, highlighting Thales’ commitment to rapidly deliver operationally proven solutions.

Created in 2003, the PERSEUS prize aims to accelerate the integration of critical technologies by connecting sailors, engineers, and industry leaders to equip the armed forces efficiently. In an era where mastery of the electromagnetic spectrum is increasingly vital, CURCO and Golden AI address essential operational needs while offering strong potential for export markets.

With over 60 years of expertise in electronic warfare, Thales continues to support French and European defence, demonstrating its ability to detect, analyze, and neutralize radar threats across diverse environments.

“We are proud to once again receive this PERSEUS label for our electronic warfare innovations,” said Marie Gayrel, Vice President of Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance at Thales. “It recognizes our strategy of innovation and our commitment to rapidly develop practical solutions whose operational value is proven through exercises conducted with the armed forces.”
