An AI-powered tool that can be used for test and measurement of multiple types of modern machines was demonstrated at Emerson’s NI Days India 2025 event in Bengaluru. The tool, claimed to bring a wealth of knowledge about the NI platform, can boost the test system’s efficiency.
The event by Emerson’s Test and Measurement business (formerly NI) also showcased the company’s latest test solutions for aerospace, semiconductor, transportation, wireless, 6G, life sciences, and manufacturing.
During the event, executives revealed that if you’ve ever inherited code created by someone else, such as a predecessor or a different team, you may struggle to understand what portions of the programming are doing.
Nigel can explain function of different portions of code
Nigel can explain the function of different portions of the code. They highlighted that users can tell Nigel what they want to do in their own words, and the advisor can give them step-by-step instructions for how to complete the task.
It can also provide a short summary of long, complex documentation topics to help users grasp the main points more quickly. Users can also ask it to cite the sources of the information so they can dig in deeper, as needed.
Learning a new software product or how to program in general can sometimes be like learning a new language. Nigel can help make that easier. For example, Nigel can help with topics like the basics of using loops in your application or when to consider using object-oriented programming.

AI advisor will be launched later this month
The AI advisor will be launched later this month as part of the new NI LabVIEW and NI TestStand versions at no additional cost.
During the event, the president of Emerson’s Test and Measurement business, Ritu Favre, revealed that the transition to intelligent test systems that combine modular hardware, advanced software, and data analytics can reduce time-to-market and improve test coverage.
The executives also highlighted that Nigel doesn’t just know about software. It can also answer questions about NI hardware, such as connector information or pin functionality, as well as provide general knowledge on test and measurement concepts, like recommended sampling rates to avoid aliasing.
Strict security and privacy standards
Built on Emerson’s secure and robust cloud operations platform, the AI models used in Nigel follow strict security and privacy standards. Nigel never stores your data or uses it for model training.
Communications between NI’s desktop software products—such as LabVIEW and TestStand—and the Nigel cloud service are encrypted using industry-standard Transport Layer Security (TLS). This traffic is authenticated with signed certificates, and mutual certificate-based authentication is used where applicable to ensure trusted communication on both ends, according to details provided by the company.
Event demonstrated NI’s multiple software-connected platforms
The event showcased NI’s multiple software-connected platforms that can help teams to efficiently solve complex test challenges in EV, wireless, and semiconductor domains.
During the event, engineers and industry leaders explored how data-driven testing accelerates next-generation, software-connected technology development.
Held at the Sheraton Grand Bengaluru hotel for over 600 engineers and tech leaders, the conference also revealed designs on automated testing, measurement, and platform innovations that can transform machine development.
