The U.S. Army has awarded Lockheed Martin an Integrated Fires Protection Capability (IFPC) 2nd Interceptor Other Transaction Authority (OTA) Project Agreement to strengthen the nation’s air and missile defense architecture. This major award reflects the Army’s trust in Lockheed Martin’s leadership in Integrated Air and Missile Defense (IAMD) and is expected to generate long-term opportunities over the next 15 years.

Strengthening the Nation’s Air and Missile Defense

The IFPC 2nd Interceptor program aims to provide a robust, layered solution to counter diverse aerial threats. It is designed to bridge the operational gap between existing short-range air defense systems and the Patriot air and missile defense system, ensuring continuous protection across multiple threat domains.

Under this agreement, Lockheed Martin will lead the design, development, production, and delivery of the IFPC 2nd Interceptor. The program will capitalize on the company’s extensive experience in IAMD, command and control systems, and advanced defense technologies to deliver an agile, scalable, and integrated capability for the U.S. Army.

Commitment to Innovation and Long-Term Partnership

Lockheed Martin views this program as both a strategic opportunity and a continuation of its enduring partnership with the U.S. Army. “We are honored to have been selected by the U.S. Army for this critical program,” said Randy Crites, vice president of Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control Advanced Programs. “The IFPC 2nd Interceptor agreement demonstrates the Army's confidence in our ability to deliver innovative, effective, and sustainable solutions that meet their evolving needs. This partnership reflects our industry leadership in developing IAMD capabilities that serve every operational objective.”

The company’s commitment to developing next-generation defense systems aligns with its 21st Century Security vision—an approach that integrates cutting-edge technologies, digital transformation, and global collaboration to address emerging security challenges. Over the next 15 years, Lockheed Martin will work closely with the Army to ensure the program’s successful execution through continuous innovation and excellence in performance.

Investing in the Future of Integrated Defense

Lockheed Martin has made significant internal investments to advance its Integrated Air and Missile Defense capabilities, including sensor fusion, hypersonic defense technologies, and precision interceptors. These efforts are designed to support the Department of Defense’s evolving mission requirements and maintain a technological edge in a rapidly changing threat environment.

The IFPC 2nd Interceptor initiative further reinforces Lockheed Martin’s leadership in defense innovation. By developing adaptable solutions that enhance speed, connectivity, and precision, the company is helping the Army strengthen deterrence and ensure readiness against current and future threats.

Collaboration with AeroVironment

Lockheed Martin is collaborating closely with AeroVironment on the IFPC 2nd Interceptor program. This partnership brings together complementary expertise and technologies aimed at improving system performance, interoperability, and mission flexibility. Together, the companies will provide the Army with a highly reliable and cost-effective defense capability.

Continuing the Mission

As a trusted partner of the U.S. Department of Defense, Lockheed Martin remains committed to delivering high-quality systems and services that safeguard national security. The company’s proven record of performance, innovation, and partnership uniquely positions it to meet the Army’s long-term defense requirements.
