Intel has unveiled its Intel Core Ultra series 3 processors (code-named Panther Lake)—the first client system-on-chips (SoCs) built on Intel 18A, the most advanced semiconductor process developed and manufactured in the United States. Already in production, Panther Lake is on track to meet customer commitments and is poised to become one of the industry’s most widely adopted PC platforms.

Alongside Panther Lake, Intel offered a first look at Intel Xeon 6+ (code-named Clearwater Forest), its next-generation server processor also built on Intel 18A, delivering substantial gains in power efficiency and performance for data centers.

Intel 18A: Setting a New Standard in Semiconductor Technology

Intel 18A represents a major technological milestone, combining cutting-edge innovations to deliver up to 15% better performance per watt and 30% higher chip density compared to the previous Intel 3 process. Key breakthroughs include:

  • RibbonFET: Intel’s first new transistor architecture in over a decade, enabling better scaling, faster switching, and improved energy efficiency.

  • PowerVia: A novel backside power delivery system enhancing energy flow and signal integrity.

  • Foveros 3D Packaging: Advanced chip stacking and multi-chiplet integration for superior flexibility, scalability, and system-level performance.

Intel 18A will serve as the foundation for at least three upcoming generations of both client and server processors.

Panther Lake: Scalable AI Performance for PCs and Edge Devices

The Intel Core Ultra series 3 (Panther Lake) processors are designed to power a wide range of consumer and commercial AI PCs, gaming machines, and edge solutions. Built on a scalable, multi-chiplet architecture, Panther Lake offers unmatched flexibility across different form factors, segments, and price points.

Highlights of Panther Lake include:

  • Up to 16 new performance and efficiency cores delivering over 50% faster CPU performance than the previous generation.

  • Intel Arc GPU with up to 12 Xe cores, offering more than 50% faster graphics performance.

  • Balanced XPU architecture for next-level AI acceleration with up to 180 Platform TOPS.

Beyond PCs, Panther Lake will enable advanced edge applications, including robotics, with Intel’s Robotics AI software suite and reference boards to accelerate AI perception and control capabilities. Panther Lake will begin high-volume production this year, with the first SKUs shipping before year-end and broad market availability in January 2026.

Clearwater Forest: Efficiency and Scale for Modern Data Centers

Intel Xeon 6+ (Clearwater Forest) represents Intel’s most efficient server processor to date, designed for hyperscale data centers, cloud providers, and telecom operators. Built on Intel 18A, Clearwater Forest delivers:

  • Up to 288 E-cores for massive parallelism.

  • 17% Instructions Per Cycle (IPC) uplift over previous generation.

  • Significant improvements in density, throughput, and power efficiency.

Clearwater Forest enables organizations to scale workloads, reduce energy costs, and power smarter, AI-enabled services. It is expected to launch in the first half of 2026.

Fab 52: Strengthening U.S. Technology and Manufacturing Leadership

Both Panther Lake and Clearwater Forest are produced at Intel Fab 52, a state-of-the-art facility in Chandler, Arizona. Fab 52, Intel’s fifth high-volume fab at the Ocotillo campus, is part of a $100 billion investment to expand domestic operations and strengthen U.S. semiconductor leadership.

With Intel’s R&D and production in Oregon, high-volume manufacturing in Arizona, and packaging operations in New Mexico, the company is uniquely positioned to support national priorities and strategic supply chains while delivering cutting-edge technologies for the AI era.

Intel CEO on the Future of Computing

“We are entering an exciting new era of computing, made possible by leaps in semiconductor technology that will shape the future for decades,” said Intel CEO Lip-Bu Tan. “Our next-gen compute platforms, combined with leading-edge process technology and advanced packaging, are catalysts for innovation as we expand domestic operations and bring new solutions to market.”
