With the introduction of the new IDS NXT Oslo, IDS Imaging Development Systems GmbH continues to broaden its portfolio of advanced AI-powered cameras. This model merges artificial intelligence with exceptional image quality, video streaming, and recording capabilities, all within a compact, industrial-grade enclosure. Built to the IP69K standard, it offers the highest level of protection against dust and high-pressure water ingress.

At the heart of the new camera is an Ambarella chip, also featured in its sister model, the IDS NXT Malibu. This chip supports compressed video streaming at full 5 MP sensor resolution (H.264, MJPEG) at over 25 frames per second. Video is transmitted directly to the target device via the RTSP protocol, eliminating the need for an additional PC for processing or display. This makes the camera particularly well-suited for applications that demand live video with AI-powered overlays.

With its built-in Image Signal Processor (ISP), the camera offers users automatic functions such as brightness adjustment, lens distortion correction, and color optimization. Combined with the light-sensitive onsemi AR0521 sensor, this enables outstanding image quality even in challenging lighting environments.

“With IDS NXT Oslo, we’re introducing a highly adaptable AI camera capable of real-time analysis, as well as direct streaming and recording,” says Patrick Schick, Product Owner 3D & Vision Software at IDS. “Its durable IP69K-rated housing with M12 connectors ensures dependable performance even in the harshest industrial or agricultural settings.”

As a component of the comprehensive IDS NXT AI platform, IDS NXT Oslo includes seamlessly integrated hardware and software. It’s designed for ease of use, requiring no prior expertise in deep learning, image processing, or programming. The model is now available for mass production.
