XPENG AEROHT, the flying car affiliate of Chinese EV maker XPENG, has commenced trial production at the world's first dedicated mass-production facility for flying cars in Guangzhou. The massive 120,000-square-meter factory is designed to eventually produce 10,000 detachable aircraft modules annually, with the first "Land Aircraft Carrier" model already rolled out.
The future of transportation is officially moving from the drawing board to the factory floor. XPENG AEROHT, a pioneering company in the advanced air mobility sector, has launched trial production at what it claims is the globe's first intelligent factory built specifically for manufacturing flying cars. This milestone, announced on Monday, signals a significant step toward the commercial reality of personal flight. Located in the Huangpu district of Guangzhou, the facility represents a massive bet on the future of urban and regional mobility.
The scale of the new plant is as ambitious as the product it will build. Spanning an impressive 120,000 square meters, the factory is designed with an ultimate annual production capacity of 10,000 detachable aircraft modules. In its initial phase, it will start with a capacity of 5,000 units. The company, reported by XPENG AEROHT, stated that once fully operational, the highly automated production line will be capable of assembling one complete aircraft module in just 30 minutes, making it the largest and most efficient facility of its kind in the world.
The star product rolling off this new assembly line is the "Land Aircraft Carrier," a modular flying car. This innovative vehicle consists of two main parts: a six-wheeled ground vehicle, dubbed the "mothership," and a fully detachable electric vertical take-off and landing aircraft. This design offers unique flexibility; the ground vehicle can be driven on public roads with a standard driver's license and parked in a regular space, as it measures a manageable 5.5 meters in length. When the need for flight arises, the eVTOL aircraft can detach and take over.

The flying component is designed for accessibility, offering both manual and automatic flight modes. Its automatic mode enables features like smart route planning and one-touch take-off and landing, potentially lowering the barrier to entry for pilots. The market response has been strongly positive, with the company announcing it has already secured orders for nearly 5,000 flying cars since the product's unveiling. Mass production and customer deliveries are firmly scheduled to begin in 2026.
