A drum-shaped antenna reflector on the NASA-ISRO (NISAR) satellite has been deployed. This is the largest antenna reflector ever deployed for a NASA mission. The NISAR satellite will track the motion of glaciers and the deformation of land due to earthquakes.
The reflector features a cylindrical frame made of 123 composite struts and a gold-plated wire mesh. The NISAR satellite gathers information about Earth’s changing surface.
It scans nearly planets’ all land, and ice surfaces twice every 12 days.
